Texas Appleseed Working with TYC to Modify Pepper Spray Use
By taking legal action to stop the Texas Youth Commission from
overusing pepper spray to maintain order in its facilities, Texas Appleseed and Advocacy Inc. secured a major
victory to better protect incarcerated youth—including those with respiratory, mental and emotional health issues. The TYC is now
reexamining its overall "use of force" policy.
