Poster: Getting Your ID or Driver's License (Youth Experiencing Homelessness or In Foster Care)
September 14, 2021
Download link above. Poster for principals, homeless school liaisons, school counselors & other educators to download and post around campus. Online downloadable version is 11x17; can be sized down to 8.5x11. The poster contains information about HB 123. This law makes it easier for youth experiencing homelessness and children in foster care to gain access to state identification certificates and driver’s licenses. The law waives all fees associated with getting a license or a state ID or the fees associated with birth certificates or other documents for young people experiencing homelessness or in foster care. The law also allows these young people to use a school or shelter as their address so they can receive these documents. The poster is provided in partnership between Texas Appleseed, Texas CASA, and Texas RioGrande Legal Aid.
